Hugh Wakefield

Hugh Wakefield was born in Wanstead in 1888, the son of Henry And Josephine. The 1891 census sees them living at 48 The High street. This is now the site of Curves Beauty Salon in the Parade of Shops Between Cambridge Park and Woodbine place.

By the 1901 census, The Family have moved to Willesden and Hugh, age 12 is listed as being and Actor as well as attending school.

His career as an actor took of with him giving solid supporting roles in a variety of roles, the most famous of which must be Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward in which he played the doctor.

He served with the Royal Air force during the war and he continued to have an interest in aviation as well as other more traditional pursuits such as shooting and golf.

He died on 5th December 1971
