Dial WAN for Wanstead

Most Wanstead residents are familiar with the telephone exchange on the corner of New Wanstead and Gordon Road but this was not the first. The Kelly's directory  for 1902 tells us that the National Telephone Exchange was at 23 Welsley Road under the management of Arthur C Remmington . A closer look at the area shows that a block of flats is now on the site.
