The Marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer

The people of Wanstead looked forward to the Royal Wedding in 1981. The Jubilee in 1977 had reminded people of the community spirit with the many street parties that took place, and many wanted to recreate this for the wedding. Many places had Wedding parties. Here are some photgraphs from two events. Mrs Milford ran the Warren Hall Nursery in Cambridge Park and here you can see a picture of their Royal Wedding party.

The Pram Club, meeting in the afternoon in Christ Church Hall had a fancy dress party.

Mrs Birchall, Teacher at Wanstead C of E judges the fancy dress competition with Father John Harris, Curate at Christ Church.
